Bad news, good news

Tuesday, September 17, 2002

Dear Editor,

Why is it there is such a plethora of bad news in the world today in the newspapers, on radio and TV?

Rapes, murders, robberies, a collapsing economy, terrorism here and around the world, top ranking people in huge companies doing false financial reporting and raking in hundreds of millions of dollars (robber barons), at the expense of shareholders and employees etc, etc.?

Much, if not most of the news is so negative and according to Bible prophecy its going to get a lot worse very soon.

The answer to my question is given to us in the Bible also. Jeremiah 17:9 says, The heart (of man) is deceitful above all things, and it is exceedingly perverse and corrupt and severely, mortally sick! Who can know it (perceive, understand, be acquainted with his own heart and mind)?

See also Matthew 13:15-17; Mark 7:21-23; Ephesians 4:20-24. Now you know why there will never be "peace on earth and good will toward men" until Jesus Christ comes back to earth, sets up His kingdom and rules the peoples of the earth, "with a rod of iron."

A rod of iron means "His will, will be done on earth as it is in Heaven."

The instruments of warfare will be melted down and turned into plowshares (tractors, combines etc.). That's good news isn't it?

The good news is that, "Jesus is coming again," first to take believers out of this world, give us brand new bodies that will never grow old, there will be no more sickness, pain or death, no more gnarled bodies or disease. Seven years later He will come all the way back to earth to rule and reign over all the peoples of the earth for a thousand years and we will come back with Him to reign.

The bad news is that those who are left here on this earth will have to go through World War III, a truly global, nuclear war and the Bible clearly shows in the book of Revelation that 2 to 3 billion people will lose their lives. The good news is that you can escape this terrible chaos by trusting Christ as your personal Savior now and when the trumpet sounds you will be taken over to Heaven. Your Friend,

Paul Schneider
