July ceremony unites couple
HERNDON -- Sarah Beth Ketterl of Herndon and Aaron Ritchey White of Kingsdown were united in marriage July 20, 2002, at the home of the bride's parents in a double ring ceremony. The Rev. Bob Seth of Minneola, Kan., was the officiant. Pastors Judy Carlson and Jim Larson assisted in the ceremony.
Parents of the couple are Judy and David Ketterl of Herndon and Marilyn and Hal White of Kingsdown. Special quests were the bride's grandmother, Anna Mae Ketterl of Herndon, the bridegroom's grandparents, Laura and Ritchey Stewart of Zenith and the bride's great aunt, Irene Kisling of Atwood.
The bride wore a white, matte satin A-line gown with three pearled bands at the waist. A satin band accented the neck and the short sleeves. The hem of her skirt flowed into a semi-chapel train. She wore a beaded circular tiara and a chapel length veil of white bridal illusion. She carried a bouquet of sunflowers, golden solidago and delphiniums. The bridegroom wore a long, black western coat, white vest with black crossover tie, black Wrangler jeans and black western boots.
The matron of honor was Andrea Depenbusch of Wemego, Kan. The bridesmaids were Alicia White of Kingsdown, sister of the bridegroom, Laura Rullman of Topeka, Kan., and Lynn Batenhorst of Manhattan, Kan. The bridesmaids each wore a long royal blue sleeveless gown with sequined bodice and a laced back. They each carried a bouquet of a single sunflower and delphinium.
The best man was Caleb White of Kingsdown, brother of the bridegroom. The bridegroomsmen were Adam Ketterl of Herndon, brother of the bride, Matthew Ahlenius of Gypsum, Kan., and Mark Reed of Sterling, Kan. Each bridegroomsmen wore long, black western coats, royal blue and black vests with black crossover ties, black Wrangler jeans and black western boots. They wore boutonnieres of miniature sunflowers. The flower girl was Hannah Hoffman of Hays Springs. Kerby Depenbush of Wamego served as the ring bearer.
Ushers for the ceremony were Spencer Ketterl of Oberlin, cousin of the bride, Dave Ellis of Great Bend, Kan., and Windell Middlebrooks of Fort Worth, Texas.
Glenva Higley of Atwood, coordinated the music for the ceremony. Kenneth and Lisa Harshberger of Meade, Kan., sang a duet. Greg Jones of Atwood played the bagpipes.
Amy and April Portschy of Herndon, cousins of the bride, were the guestbook attendants. The gift attendants were Shannon Weber of Diller, Tyler Martin of Herndon and Joseph Hoffman of Hay Springs.
The bride's parents hosted the reception in their backyard. The mints were made by the bridegroom's mother. During the reception a song was sung by Adam Ketterl, Nik Martin and Anikka Martin. Cake servers were Rita Howard of McDonald, aunt of the bride, Marita Portschy of Herndon, aunt of the bride, Linda White of Red Oak, Texas, aunt of the bridegroom and Myrtle White of Syracuse, Kan., aunt of the bridegroom. Other servers for the reception include Lorri Martin, Peach Beims of Herndon, Sona Gray of Grand Rapids, Mich., Amy Kaufman of Jacksonville, Ill., Arnetta Huss of Herndon, Denise Hopper of Oskaloosa, Kan., Dianna Kastens of Herndon, Sharon Wolfram of Herndon, John Riener of Herndon, Michael Howard of Colby, Kellen Howard of McDonald and Natanial Martin and Kirche Martin, both of Herndon. Tom Franke of Herndon was the videographer.
The couple honeymooned at Yellowstone National Park.
The bride is a 1996 graduate of Herndon High School, a 2000 graduate of Sterling College in Sterling, Kan., and is attending Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kan., in veterinary medicine. The bridegroom is a 1996 graduate of Minneola High School, a 200 graduate of Sterling College and is a junior at Kansas State University in Manhattan, also in veterinary medicine.
The couple is making their home in Manhattan, Kan.
