Saggy Bottom Boys on stage Thursday night
The local band, Saggy Bottom Boys will perform the second in this year's series of Hot Summer Nights concerts at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
The "Boys" will entertain with bluegrass music in the Norris Park band shell and the McCook Chamber of Commerce will serve ice cream floats to concert-goers.
Saggy Bottom Boys was formed earlier this year when the Barn Again! exhibit came to McCook. Inspiration for the group also came from the Buffalo Commons Festival.
The group includes Gene Malleck of McCook on guitar; Andre LeFebvre of McCook on banjo, guitar and fiddle; Henry Guerrero of McCook on drums and Lonnie Weyeneth of Danbury on the harmonica. All the members lend to the groups strong vocals.
The band is progressing and has been booked to play in Indianola at Old Settlers Days and during McCook's Heritage Days.
The Hot Summer Nights concert is free to the public and is sponsored by McCook National Bank. Those who attend will have a chance to win prizes from MNB.
The show starts at 7:30 p.m., and lasts until 9:30 p.m. Spectators are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets and picnic baskets.
The Hot Summer Nights concert series is in its fourth year. Sponsors bring in area bands to help celebrate hot summers and cool fun.
More concerts are scheduled for Aug. 15 and 29.
