'Old-fashioned Saturday night' returns to Cambridge Aug. 31

CAMBRIDGE -- The Cambridge Chamber of Commerce plans its annual "Old-Fashioned Saturday Night" celebration Saturday, Aug. 31.

The celebration recreates a Saturday evening of the 1950's, when the family went into town or downtown so "Mom" could do her "tradin'," "Dad" could play cards with the neighbors, "the kids" could go to the movies and everyone could catch up on the news.

Events are scheduled in downtown Cambridge starting at 6 p.m., and will include -- new this year -- a wedding dress fashion show.

The big drawing for prizes will begin at 9 p.m. Participants are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs to sit and enjoy the drawing.
