Women sent to prison on violation of probation
A Danbury woman was sent to the state penitentiary for a probation violation last week.
Charity Shepherd, 19, was sentenced in Red Willow County District Court to 26-66 months and 90 days with the Department of Corrections when she was found guilty of probation violation.
She originally was sentenced to 60 months probation for 31 counts of criminal mischief in which she damaged more than 30 vehicles on June 9, 2001. Her probation was extended to six months on a previous probation violation.
In other district court action:
- Patrick Steadman, 37, Indianola, was found guilty of possession of a controlled substance, a Class IV felony. He was a former police informant for the Red Willow County Sheriff. On April 24, 2002, he was working for the sheriff when methamphetamine was found on him.
Steadman originally pleaded not guilty to the charge of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, a Class IV felony. The charge was amended to just a possession charge.
His sentencing is set for Jan. 17, 2003.
- Dawn Nicole Lampman, 22, McCook, was sentenced to 24 months probation for attempted distribution of a controlled substance (marijuana), a Class IIIA felony. She was originally charged with distribution of a controlled substance, a Class III felony, but the charge was amended during a plea agreement.
- Nickoles D. Patterson, 25, Palisade, had his charges, possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), a Class IV felony and operation of a motor vehicle after suspension, a Class III misdemeanor, amended after he pleaded not guilty. Through a plea agreement, the driving under suspension charge was dropped and Patterson pleaded guilty to the drug charge. His sentencing is set for Feb. 10, 2003.
- Wade B. Grilli, 32, Beaver City, admitted to a probation violation and his sentencing for it was scheduled. Grilli was originally sentenced to a total of 24 months of intensive supervised probation for possession of a controlled substance, a Class I misdemeanor and operation of a motor vehicle after suspension, a Class III misdemeanor. He was originally charged with, not only the driving under suspension charge, but with possession of a controlled substance, a Class IV felony and possession of a drug paraphernalia, infraction. The charges were amended during a plea agreement.
He was involved in a Dec. 31, 2001, incident where drug were found on him during an arranged traffic stop. His sentencing for the probation violation is Jan. 13, 2003.
- Randy Roberts, 20, North Platte, was arraigned for a probation violation.
Roberts was originally charged with issuing a bad check, a Class III felony, trespassing, a Class I misdemeanor, criminal mischief, a Class II misdemeanor and attempted criminal mischief, a Class I misdemeanor. He was sentenced to 24 months probation and to go through the Work Ethic Camp program.
Roberts violated his probation in many ways including moving from his home without notifying his probation officer.
A trial for his probation violation was set for today.
