Beautify the B kickoff Thursday

The official kick off for the Beautify the B campaign sponsored by the McCook Chamber of Commerce will be Thursday, from 5-7 p.m., at Wagner Ford Mercury, 211 W. Second Street.

"This is going to be a fun event for the entire family," said the Chamber's Executive Director Marie Owen. "We'll even make it so you don't have to cook."

The Chamber will be serving up hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, cookies and sodas for the event.

During the event, the Chamber will be passing out special punch cards to encourage shoppers to continue doing business in downtown McCook. For each $5 purchase from a participating merchant, customers will receive one punch. Each card has 10 punches on it. When the cards are full, shoppers can drop their cards off at the McCook Chamber of Commerce at 107 Norris Avenue and be entered into a drawing for $2,003 in Chamber Cash.

The kickoff party will include a hoop shot contest and a putting contest. Anyone participating in the contest will receive one punch in their punch card. And, said Chris Wagner of Wagner Ford Mercury, while the specifics haven't been settled on the hoop shoot contest, anyone making a hole in one on the putting green will receive a receive a full card.

"It looks like the weather is going to be great for the event" said Wagner,

"we'd like to see everyone out supporting our local B Street merchants."
