Virgil John 'June' Bobinmyer

HUMANSVILLE, Mo. -- Virgil John "June" Bobinmyer, 81, died Monday (Sept.1, 2003) in Humansville, Mo.

He was born July 6, 1922, to John Edward and Anna (Drain) Bobinmyer in Hitchcock County. He grew up in Hitchcock County and graduated from Herndon High School in Herndon.

He entered the Navy and served in the Pacific on the USS Crosby during World War II.

After his discharge he returned to farming and raising cattle in Hitchcock County.

In 1954, he married Peggy Wiley. She preceded him in death. In 1970, he moved to Arkansas and in 1972, he moved to Humansville, Mo.

On Dec. 20, 1985, he married Rosemary VanDoren. He continued to farm and raise cattle until his retirement.

He was a member of the American Legion, the VFW and the McCook Elks Lodge No. 1434.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Peggy; one brother, Douglas and one sister, Norma Strunk.

Survivors include his wife, Rosemary of Humansville, Mo.; two daughters, Terri Duncan and husband, Larry of Branson, Mo., and Mary Jo Bobinmyer of Bolivar, Mo.; two sons, John Bobinmyer and wife, Donna of Flemington, Mo., and Charles Bobinmyer and wife, Robin of Humansville; one brother, Robert Bobinmyer and wife, Vera of McCook; two sisters, Betty Rousselle and husband, Leo of Culbertson and Doris Wacker and husband, Fred of Bentonville, Ark.; and three grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services are Saturday, 10 a.m., at Herrmann Funeral Chapel in Culbertson with the Rev. Richard Karr officiating. Interment with military honors will be in the Culbertson Cemetery in Culbertson.

Memorials may be given in his name and friends may call the funeral home in Culbertson on Friday.
