Riding school begins next week

Monday, August 25, 2003

A new horse riding school will open at the Kiplinger Arena beginning Wednesday, Sept. 3.

Deb Frasier and her 11-year-old daughter, Shelby, of Benkelman, will offer horse riding classes every Wednesday through May.

"We'll train anyone with an interest in learning new skills or sharpening existing ones,"Deb said.

That includes the novice, someone who has had a bad experience with horses or someone who is wanting to train for national finals. Students may provide their own horses or arrange to use a horse owned by the Frasiers.

Deb, who has been to the WPRA national finals twice and is the only Nebraska woman to win the National High School All-Around also set a state record on a single pole bending a three run average in 1971. That record still stands today. For the last three years she has won the National Barrel Horse Association Championship, 1-D on personally trained horses.

Shelby has won both 3-D and 4-D in the National Barrel Horse Association Championship and is currently winning the 1-D.
