Trenton man faces 3 charges of assault

TRENTON -- A 58-year-old Trenton man remains in the Hitchcock County jail in Trenton on a $50,000 cash bond, following his arraignment Tuesday on three charges of sexual assault.

Dwight Bartunek is charged with two counts of first degree sexual assault, Class II felonies punishable by up to 50 years in jail; and one count of sexual assault of a child, a Class IIIA felony punishable by up to five years in prison, a $10,000 fine, or both.

Bartunek was arrested Friday, following an investigation by the Hitchcock County Sheriff's Office and the Nebraska State Patrol.

Bartunek's preliminary hearing is scheduled Wednesday, Sept. 10, at 11:30 a.m.
