Heritage Hills to host Buick Scramble

The Buick Scramble, celebrating its 20th season and second under the Buick banner, is scheduled to conduct a local championship at Heritage Hills Golf Course in McCook on Sunday.

Sponsored by Howard Kool Motors of McCook and open to the public, four-person teams with certified USGA handicap indexes are eligible to compete in the Buick Scramble Local Championship at Heritage Hills Golf Course. Taking place with tee times beginning at 9 a.m., Howard Kool Motors will showcase the 2003 line of Buick vehicles at the local championship, and will award an all-new Buick Rendezvous to anyone recording a hole-in-one at the designated hole.

Interested teams can sign up for the local championship at the golf shop through Saturday.

PGA Tour Professional and Buick Spokesperson Tiger Woods returns as the Buick Scramble Honorary Chairman in 2003.

As the Buick Scramble Honorary Chairman, Woods, 27, is scheduled to present the trophies to the 2003 Buick Scramble.

National Champions at the awards ceremony following the conclusion of the final round of the National Championships. The 2003 National Championships is scheduled for Oct. 8-12 at the all-new Grande Lakes Resort in Orlando, Fla.

"Buick is excited about the 2003 season and its new relationship with Grande Lakes Orlando, a world-class property that we think will become one of the premiere golf resorts in the United States," said Larry Peck, Buick's golf marketing manager.

"In addition, we are excited that Tiger Woods is scheduled to continue his role as Buick Scramble Honorary Chairman in 2003."

Winning teams from the local championship at Heritage Hills Golf Course will advance to compete in the Buick Scramble Nebraska PGA Sectional Championships in the summer.

Two winning teams from each PGA Sectional will advance to the Buick Scramble National Championships, which is scheduled for Oct. 8-12 at Grande Lakes Orlando.

The Buick Scramble, celebrating its 20th season, is the world's largest amateur golf tournament with approximately 100,000 participants each year.

Sanctioned by the PGA of America, the Buick Scramble hosts nearly 2,000 local championships nationwide annually.

Local winners advance to one of 130 PGA Sectional Championships, with the section winners advancing to the Buick Scramble National Championships in Orlando.

The official car of the PGA of America and the PGA Tour, Buick is title-sponsor of three PGA Tour events, the Buick Scramble and is presenting sponsor of the PGA Club Professional Championship. Buick has a marketing partnership with Tiger Woods and sponsorship agreements with golf instructor Butch Harmon and PGA Tour Professionals Matt Gogel and David Berganio Jr.

Entry fees are $50 per player, which includes cart, green fee, and a variety of Buick Scramble tee-gifts and incentives, including a dozen Strata golf balls and a $50 redeemable golf shop certificate.
