McCook and Holdrege will hook up Friday night in another grudge match in the long history of the rivalry. Kickoff at Holdrege is 7 p.m. central time.

LINCOLN -- McCook High School's Jeff Gross and Mark Brahmer of Pierce will be the head coaches for the 2009 Nebraska Shrine Bowl football game. The game will be played July 25 at 6:30 p.m. at Memorial Stadium.
 Assisting Gross on the South team will be Rick Nordhues of Syracuse, Glen Snodgrass of Overton and Matt Turman of Omaha Skutt.

Amusing but sad is the ignorance displayed by too many in the general public. Features like Jay Leno's "Jaywalking" segment on the Tonight show would be even more amusing were we not entrusting the future of our nature to some of the same people he approaches on the street...

In recent weeks, the safe haven law that passed last session in the Unicameral has caused quite a stir in state government and the media. Several children, many of them teenagers, have been left at hospitals by a parent(s) or legal guardian(s), the majority with alleged behavioral or mental issues...
