Big Brother Week 1 Update
In an effort to expand out what I write about and to make the name of my blog make a little more sense I am going to be writing several different blogs this summer and into the fall.
Just to give you a brief round-up of when to expect new blogs every Thursday I will writer a blog on the previous week of CBS' Big Brother including what has happened on the show, who was evicted (will also update current blog with that info), who won Head of Household (HOH), who was nominated to be evicted, who won the secret HOH (cannot remember the name at this moment), who was nominated from that, who won Power of Veto (POV), and rankings.
Fridays will still the regular Presidential race update. Beginning the Sunday after the first full week of college football I will recap some of the marquee match-ups and present my personal Top 25.
Tuesdays after the first full week of the NFL, I will rank the 32 teams from top to bottom based on the previous weeks games.
This blog will be a little short as I am just in from seeing Guns 'N Roses in Kansas City last night.
One house guest has already been evicted, but he was not voted out as is typical but lost a completion. So Glenn is out.
There are currently 11 new Big Brother cast mates as well as four veteran cast mates from previous seasons. Unlike past seasons that saw former cast mates come on typically as an advisory position, all four are playing and the entire house has been split into four teams.
I am not fond of this format and I really don't expect it to last long.
Category 4:
This group is lead by veteran Frank, who is the son of former professional wrestler Sid Vicious. Frank has already been putting the newbies through some spectacular wrestling moves in the house. The three newbies on his team are Michelle, Paulie (who is the brother of Season 16 runner up Cody), and Bridgett.
Big Sister:
This group is lead by veteran Da'Vonne. The newbies on her team are Paul, Zakiyah, and Jozea.
Team Unicorn:
This group is lead by veteran James. James made a name for himself as being a prankster in his last season and it has already started this season. He replaced Natalie's body lotion with mayonnaise. She proceeded to lather her body in mayonnaise without noticing until Bronte used some and immediately noticed. He is joined by newbies; Natalie, Bronte, and Victor.
Freakazoids:
This group is lead by veteran Nicole. They are already down a player with Glenn's eviction but the remainder of her team are; Corey and Tiffany (who is the sister of Vanessa from Season 17).
HOH: Nicole, Team Freaks won the first competition of the summer and Nicole convinced the newbies to make her the HOH.
The Block: Jozea and Paulie
Roadkill (Secret HOH): Frank. He nominated Paul for the block.
POV: Paul won POV removing himself from the block forcing Frank to secretly nominate Bridgette.
The target this week is Jozea and for some obvious reasons. He made it clear right at the beginning that he was going to target Nicole. He told this the Da'Vonne, one of the veterans. He was put up along with Paulie as a pawn to make sure that Jozea went home. He has also made enemies in the house by calling himself the messiah of the newbies (which did not go over at all with very religious Da'Vonne) and had constantly stated over the last week that he was not going home and that he was not going to pack.
Watching the live feeds I am left wondering how much he actually unpacked as he has been running around in very little underwear (or maybe swim suit. I am not sure and I am glad that I will not have to see it at all).
Frank has been working since the beginning to make this eviction as much of a blind side to Jozea as possible. With his cocky attitude he could be told every one was going to vote him out and he would still think he was not leaving.
RANKINGS:
As long as I have been watching this is the weakest new house mate level I have seen. They are sequestered for three weeks before the show and told to watch the last three seasons of Big Brother. Almost every single newbie has admitted to not doing so and it is showing up in the game.
15: Jozea - simply put this is his last night in the house and he has no idea. He has put off most of the house so this spot is obvious for him.
14: Zakiyah - has really not played the game to this point. She has spent a large amount of time sleeping and at the point only really seem to have two housemates on her side.
13: Victor - He considers himself a ladies man but is not and is a manager at a gym but really has no idea how work outs actually work. He sided with Jozea and Paul which has put a target on his back.
12: Paul - The only reason he is not in 18th place is because he was able to win POV. That's really it. He has absolutely no idea that he could potentially be one of only two votes to keep Jozea this week. He honestly believes that he has control over the newbies, much like Jozea.
11: Tiffany - I would expect Tiffany to slowly make her way up this list and this week she has been out and socializing while the first week was spent apparently sleeping.
9 (tie): Michelle and Natalie - I honestly do not know the difference between the two at this point. Good for them in the short run bad in the long run.
8: Bronte - She hitched her pole to the wrong side out of the gate siding with Paul and Jozea. There was speculation of a showmance between her and Paul but she quashed any notion of that - for the time being. She gets a bump because she actually figured out (after initially telling Paulie he was out as a joke) that Jozea does not have the votes to stay. She should vote to evict as she said she would vote the way the house did but she has not made a promise of that.
7: Bridgette - She gets the high slot because she has effectively played the game and gotten her foot in just about every alliance without really seeming to. She has been caught once so if she can learn from her mistake she could move up. If she continues to get caught she will become an actual target quickly.
6: Corey - He is as safe as he can be after aligning with the veterans at the first possibility. Some of the things he has said in the house could cause him to sink really fast, but he has a few weeks before that will happen.
5: Paulie - He aligned himself with the veterans as quickly as he could and even though he is on the block is absolutely safe. Paul and Jozea wanted to go after the veterans immediately and as long as I have been watching it has never worked. Paulie understood this and went to the veterans with this information.
4: Da'Vonne - She is a ticking timebomb. She could have made it far last season but it was just to easy to get under her skin. She seems more even keel this summer but that could change any moment. Despite that she is still a better player than any of the newbies.
3: Nicole - She will make it far in this game solely off of her Midwestern cuteness. As long as she can stay out of a showmance the sky is the limit.
2: James - He is the lovable prankster of the group. He get in with the girls and get information but none of them see him as a catch so no worries about a showmance. At this point I can actually see James and Frank making it to the final 2 as they are both on top of their games.
1: Frank - He came into this season with an objective in mind and he is ruling the house to this point. Top that with winning the secret HOH and he actually has all the power in the house right now.
MAIN ALLIANCES:
8 Pack:
James, Frank, Nicole, Da'Vonne, Corey, Zakiyah, Michelle, Tiffany
This alliance is the power alliance in the house and was formed shortly after the Vets came in the house. Paulie is not in the alliance but has sided with the group.
FATAL FIVE:
Da'Vonne, Tiffany, Michelle, Nicole, Zakiyah
This is one of the two all girl alliances and the strongest. All girl alliances do not have a good history in Big Brother, so we shall see how far they go.
SPY GIRLS:
Natalie, Bronte, Bridgette
This was the first all girl alliance and they have already taken a hit when they sent Bridgette to spy on the 8 Pack. I would not expect this group to last two long as more than likely all three could see early exits.
EVICTION:
Frank - Jozea
James - Jozea
Nicole - can't vote
Da'Vonne - Jozea
Paulie - can't vote
Corey - Jozea
Bridgette - can't vote
Bronte - Paulie
Michelle - Jozea
Natalie - Paulie
Tiffany - Jozea
Paul - Paulie
Victor - Paulie
Zakiyah - Jozea
Jozea - can't vote
By a vote of 7-4-0 Jozea was evicted a very huge surprise to him as it dawned on him that he was out, but so surprise to those watching. It is a bit of a shock that even though both Natalie and Bronte said they would vote with the house and Bronte had figured it out they still voted to evict Paulie. This puts targets on their backs but at this point Paul is now the largest target followed by Victor.
UPDATE:
So Big Brother has introduced another twist, Battle Back. It seems they are throwing everything they can into this season. Jozea and Glenn will compete to get back in the house. Whoever loses goes home, whoever wins goes on to face the third person evicted and so one through the fifth evictee. Whoever wins that goes back in the house.
HOH UPDATE:
Category 4 won the HOH choosing Paulie to be the next HOH. Power remains with the Veterans with him winning. I could foresee him putting up Paul and Victor. He has no known enemies in the game. Safe this week from eviction: Frank, Michelle, and Bridgett.
BLOCK UPDATE:
Paulie nominated Bronte but the plan is to backdoor Victor. This is actually a good plan because if that plan fails Paul in more than likely evicted.
ROADKILL UPDATE:
Victor has won the Roadkill. This throws a wrench in the plans to backdoor him, however it sounds like Paulie still has a plan to backdoor Victor, with the backup plan of evicting Paul. Victor has not made his nomination for the block yet.
ROADKILL NOMINEE:
Victor nominated Tiffany to make her the third nominee.
POV:
Paulie has won POV which means he can take any of the three nominees down. He can leave them the same, or take Tiffany off the block. If he does that then Victor would have to nominate another person to take her place. No as far as I understand, if Paulie decides to take one of his nominees off the block he is able to replace them with Victor. We shall see where he goes with it.
POV Ceremony:
Paulie used the POV to take Paul off the block and chose Victor as the replacement nominee.
