Educator supports school bond
Dear Editor,
As a retired McCook educator, I can assure you that a vote FOR the school bond is a crucial step toward ensuring our students receive the quality education they deserve. The current facility lacks sufficient learning space and exhibits significant structural challenges, most of which a repair and a Band-Aid are not enough.
The construction is not a frill. It is necessary to bring our school up to a safe and adequate learning environment for our kids. Are there some items on this project that you don’t support? Maybe so. Any of us might have put together a different version and list of needs, but the administration and school board have made every effort to put together a thoughtful, fiscally responsible building construction project and budget.
One that best anticipates the future educational and facility needs for the district. Please be responsibly informed. Take a tour of the current building, visit with those who have the answers to your questions.
No other investment yields as great a return as the investment in education. This construction supports quality instructional space and programs that will give our students the competitive edge to be successful upon graduation. No, it is not a cheap proposition, but it is a bargain when it comes to the educational and community benefits.
Please join me in voting FOR the school bond, for our kids, and for our community.
