Broncos blast Raiders to reach playoffs; Kansas teams hit 'buzzsaws'

CURTIS, Neb. — The Wauneta-Palisade Broncos outrushed Medicince Valley, 342-41, as their 59-20 victory clinched a Six-Man playoff spot Friday evening.

Wauenta-Palisade (4-4 record) will get a shot at No. 1 Sumner-Eddyville-Miller after sophomore Krayten Wiese’s five touchdowns fueled their state quest.

Wiese caught a 20-yard TD pass from teammate Nathan Blackman besides running 65, 14, 11 and one yard for those other four scores.

Casey Walker mixed in 44 and 37-yard romps into six-point paradise for W-P. The Broncos built a 40-14 halftime lead and finished their scoring with David Bryner’s 16-yard gallop.

Wiese and Walker teamed for 297 rush yards overall.

Walker averaged nearly 18 yards each carry as he needed only eight to reach 141.

Wiese carried 16 times to 156 to average nearly a first down on every tote.

The Broncos converted seven of 10 third downs while holding Medicine Valley to one-for-seven.

Grayden Sutherland’s six tackles, four assists and three tackles for loss topped the Bronco ‘D’. He also recorded a safety.

Aden Action added six solo stops whiile Bryner and Walker made four apiece.

Bryner assisted on five other stops of Raiders.

Acton and Coleman Chism each intercepted one Raider pass, though Med Valley did gain 169 yards through the air.

No M.V. individual stats were obtained.

IMPERIAL, Neb. — Chase County finished a 4-5 football season Friday night while the Holdrege Dusters only delivered two wins.

HOXIE, Kan. — Undefeated Hoxie, Kan., reached 8-0 and handed Rawlins County-Atwood just its second loss this season Friday evening.

Rawlins senior Ryan Sramek still rushed for 135 yards though it took 33 carries, just a 4.1 average.

Senior Dorian Culwell added 102 yards with 16 carries.

Yet the Buffaloes could not keep pace as Hoxie unleashed a 30-0 second half.

OBERLIN, Neb. — The Hill City Ringnecks completed all nine passes for 168 yards to go with 238 rushing yards Friday evening.

Both teams are now 5-3 through Decatur Community, Kan., has dropped two in a row after falling 48-18 to rival Rawlins County one week earlier.

No individual stats for the Red Devils were obtained.

TRENTON, Neb. — Leaders from the Hitchcock County Falcons’ 30-28 state playoff win over Wilcox-Hildreth Thursday evening.

Rushing: Sam Baker 15 carries-84 yards-1 touchdown; Karson Shuler 11-64-1 TD; Carter Propp 14-60.

Passing: Baker completed nine of 11 passes for 137 yards and two TDs.

Receiving: Jayce Hauxwell caught five for a team-high 76 yards.

The TD passes went to Shuler (two receptions, 29 yards) and Adam Kisker (one for 23).

Tackling: Jayce Hauxwell made seven solos and assisted on nine for 16 total tackles while Shuler had six and nine for 15. Jaret Neben added nine stops and Brody Hubl eigh t.
