Cambridge suddenly clicking on five-match win streak

McCOOK, Neb. — Cambridge’s Trojans are surging to start October after beating Cozad in three sets and sweeping host McCook Tuesday evening.
The Trojans (12-7 record) have suddenly won five consecutive matches after splitting their first 14 at 7-7.
A super trend for coach Lauren Carpenter who guided Cambridge into last year’s Class D-1 state championship match.
“Definitely,” Carpenter responded whether Trojans are starting to find their stride again in 2024.
“We started a little slow against Cozad but got it done,” she added. “Against McCook, I told the girls the pace was going to be a little faster and they responded.”
Senior Erin Johnson has returned from injury to help fuel the win streak while Carpenter knows returning setter Mallory Springer “is the glue” of her team.
However, younger Trojans really delivered again Tuesday like junior Brooklyn Holtze’s 15 kills against Cozad.
The Trojans took that in three 25-22, 20-25, 25-15; then swept those Bison 25-19, 25-19.
