Prairie rattlesnake found in McCook; city urges caution

McCOOK, Neb. — The City of McCook is alerting residents after a prairie rattlesnake was discovered on Thursday, September 12th. Local resident Ryan Davis found the snake on his property, located at 1305 West 13th Street. Davis was able to kill the rattlesnake and immediately notified city officials.

Although such sightings are rare in the area, the city emphasizes the importance of public awareness. “We ask the public to remain vigilant,” said a spokesperson for the City of McCook. The city extended a special thank you to Mr. Davis for his quick action and for bringing the incident to the city’s attention.

Residents are encouraged to exercise caution when outdoors and to report any unusual wildlife sightings to city authorities.
