McCOOK Neb. —Ahead of the upcoming McCook Public School Board meeting, the board will convene in the Junior High conference room for the 2024-25 Budget Hearing, 6 p.m. Monday.

The proposed $25 million operating budget includes a $9.41 million property tax request, down from $9.57 million last year.

The public will be given the opportunity to express support or opposition to the proposed budget and provide comments for consideration.

Once this hearing concludes, the Board of Education will convene for the Public Hearing regarding the Tax Request Resolution. Following this, the board will hold regular meetings to review and consider the proposed budgets for the 2024-25 school year.

During the regular session, Kyson Barger, the newly appointed student board member for the 2024-2025 school year, will take his oath of office. The FFA will also present an overview of their plans for attending the National Convention.

In addition to these critical discussions, the Superintendent will provide important updates, including a policy update, recent developments from the School Improvement Team, and a staffing update as the administration prepares to attend recruitment events.

Superintendent Grant Norgaard will update the board on the Junior and Senior High Bond.

Several bond information meetings are scheduled to inform patrons about the district’s bond and offer opportunities for the public to visit school facilities; the first will be on Oct. 8, 2024.

Residents are encouraged to attend these meetings to stay informed and participate in essential decisions affecting the McCook Public Schools community.
