Monday, July 15, 2024

McCook, Neb. – A proposal for a Sports Media Club at McCook Community College is among the items of business at the Mid-Plains Community College Board of Governors meeting, set for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in Room 213 of McMillan Hall, 1205 E. Third in McCook.

The club initiative aims to enhance student engagement and provide practical experience in sports media and journalism.

In the business, the board will review and consider approval of bills for May, amounting to $1,674,451.65.

Vehicle Purchases:
Two significant vehicle purchase decisions will be on the agenda. The first concerns acquiring six cars for college use to improve transportation for staff and faculty. The second involves the purchase of a mini-van and a 15-passenger van, which will support larger group transport needs, likely benefiting athletic teams and student organizations.

Adjunct Pay Adjustment:
The Board will also consider adjusting adjunct pay. This discussion reflects ongoing efforts to ensure fair compensation for part-time faculty members, essential for maintaining a high quality of education and attracting skilled educators.

Community members and stakeholders are encouraged to attend the meeting to stay informed about these developments and participate in MPCC's governance process.
