Aquatic Park ready to make a splash
McCOOK, Neb.— The City Council will undoubtedly celebrate the tangible results of the long process of transforming the McCook Aquatics Park project from an idea to a reality when they receive the pool and ballpark progress update at the upcoming McCook City Council meeting, 5:30 p.m. Monday..
Other items on the agenda include hearing the third and final reading and possibly voting to approve Ordinance Nos. 2024-3080 and 2024-3081.
Ordinance No. 2024-3080 amends the City of McCook’s Code of Ordinances by adding Chapter 75, Sections 75.01 through 75.99, under Title VII Traffic Code, upon its third and final reading. Ordinance No. 2024-3081 amends Section 95.35, Weeds, Litter, Stagnant Water, by adding provisions that include all specific nuisances listed in Section 95.02 of the McCook Code of Ordinances upon its third and final reading.
The City Council will also receive an update on the regular agenda regarding the comprehensive plan and zoning/subdivision regulation projects.
Erica Bush with WCNDD (West Central Nebraska Development District) will present on properties in their designated area that should be declared nuisances, properties that should be rescinded from previous declarations of nuisance, and properties that need abatement.
The Council will vote to approve the designation of nuisance properties as deemed by WCNDD, vote on specific properties to be abated, and rescind a portion of previously declared nuisance properties.
The consent agenda includes:
Approve and authorize the Mayor to sign a Professional Engineering Services Agreement with Miller & Associates, Consulting Engineers, P.C. for the Preliminary and Final Design and Construction Phase Services for the Water Resources Recovery Facility (WRRF) upgrades.
Approve the bid specifications for one (1) new Refuse Transport Trailer for the City of McCook Transfer Station and set the date to receive bids as July 30, 2024, at 2:30 p.m.
Approve the application of the McCook Rotary Club for the temporary closure of city streets for the celebration of National Night Out around Norris Park, including the northbound lane of the 700 block of Norris Avenue, the 700 block of East 1st Street, the 100 block of East “H” Street, and the 100 block of East “G” Street from 6 to 8 p.m. on August 6, 2024.
Approve the McCook Recreational Improvement Project. The City of McCook is applying for a Nebraska Rural Communities Recovery Program grant. The City’s application explicitly targets funding for public recreational facility installation.
Authorize city staff to negotiate a real estate lease with Frenchman Valley for an aerial application facility to be located at the McCook Ben Nelson Regional Airport.
