McCOOK Neb. - With the days getting hot, McCook City Manager Nate Schneider will be feeling the heat to announce the opening day for the much-anticipated McCook Aquatic Park at Monday’s City Council meeting. Schneider will also give an update on the pool and sports complex projects.

Ryan Patrick will be present to discuss how Sportsman Solutions could benefit the McCook Ballpark Project. Sportsman Solutions has approached the City of McCook to assist it in identifying potential revenue sources relevant to the new ballpark complex. Sportsman Solutions is an expert in securing supplemental revenue for projects by way of corporate sponsorships, naming rights, and other accessory means. These sponsorships help to offset costs associated with the ballpark, be it funding expenses or continued maintenance expenses. Sportsman Solutions have experience with small and large communities alike.

The Council will hear the second of three readings on two proposed ordinances. Ordinance No. 2024-3081 would amend Section 95.35 Weeds, Litter, Stagnant Water, adding provisions that include all specific nuisances listed in Section 95.02 of the McCook Code of Ordinances.

The other ordinance involves UTV Ordinance No. 2024-3080, which amends the City of McCook’s Code of Ordinances by adding Chapter 75, Sections 75.01 through and including Section 75.99, under Title VII Traffic Code. This would allow for usage on city streets.

Randall Goltl will present a Topic for Consideration for the City Council Agenda regarding a request to include golf carts or golf car vehicles in proposed Ordinance No. 2024-3080.

Grant Flamig from the Nebraska Public Power District will give a presentation. Recently, Grant Flaming became the new account manager of the City of McCook’s NPPD account, taking over long-time Nppd account manager Stan Clouse. Flamig would like to introduce himself to the McCook City Council and discuss McCook’s and NPPD’s ongoing relationship.

The City Council is also expected to approve an increase of the City of McCook’s lease payment from NPPD by .5%, increasing the percentage amount from 12.5% to 13%, starting Oct. 1, 2024.
