Inaugural CASA Corporate Games sety to kick off Monday
McCOOK Neb. — The inaugural CASA Corporate Games will kick off Crazy Days’ first event on Monday, June 17, 2024. This unique week-long event fosters camaraderie, healthy competition, and team-building in a relaxed and fun environment.
Thirteen local businesses have signed up to participate in team-building and networking and to significantly contribute to a noble cause, making a real difference in our community. Events include Pickleball on Monday, Trivia on Tuesday, Bowling on Wednesday, Axe Throwing on Thursday, and a Golf Scramble on Friday.
Each company will have a team of two to participate in the events, and the team can be different for each event.
“I’m excited about it,” said program director Caitlin Whitehead. Whitehead looks forward to making the Casa Corporate games an annual event and notes the many possibilities of future games. “I want to do one where we rent those sumo suits.”
Whitehead has had to get creative with fundraising after the decrease in Federal VOCA” Victim of Crime Act” funding.
Court-Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs) recruit, train, and supervise volunteers who serve as powerful voices for abused and neglected children as they navigate the court system. CASAs are community members appointed by a judge daily to advocate for children needing care.
Whitehead said, “I think this is a great way for us to engage with the local businesses because I don’t think a lot of businesses know what we do because we don’t operate in the same field as them, and we’re not just going and asking them for money. We’re providing something that they can do.” As people learn more about CASA, they may want to volunteer.
There is currently a waiting list of children needing services. If you would like to learn more about CASA and how you can help, you can visit https://www.prairieplainscasa.org
