Horse racing theme of First Tuesday

Thursday, May 2, 2024

McCOOK, Neb. — Flowers, hay fever medicine and jockey silks are sure signs of spring. The Buffalo Commons Storytelling and Music Festival planning committee will feature horse racing stories at their First Tuesday event May 7 from 7 – 8 pm at the Biéroc Café. Featured speaker Bob Gaulke will be on hand to share his expertise and knowledge of the sport. In honor of the Kentucky Derby, mint juleps will be available for purchase.

Anyone with a story to share is encouraged to attend. Those wanting to just listen for tips for their next race track visit are welcome as well.

This will be the final event prior to the 2024 Buffalo Commons Storytelling and Music Festival to take place June 14 – 16. Headlining the festival are storyteller Paul Strickland and musicians the Stillhouse Junkies.

Local talent includes Lucas Kotschwar, Clark Bates, Chuck Peek, Ginger ten Bensel and Paul Clark
