MCC softball star hits .556 for Region top recognition
McCOOK, Neb. — McCook Community College freshman Lexi Knapp has been honored as Region IX Softball’s player of the week.
During the week, she hit for a .556 batting average and .619 on-base-percentage.
She had three doubles, two home runs and eight RBIs.
For the season Knapp (Berthoud, Colo.) his hitting .532 and slugging .922 with 12 doubles, six home runs and 34 RBIs in 24 games.
She has also gone 5-1 as a pitcher with 33 strikeouts in 31 innings.
Home series changed
This week’s Region IX softball series between McCook Community College and Otero Junior College at the Jaycees Sports Complex has been pushed back a day because of wet fields.
Unable to start the series today, the teams will begin the series Friday.
MCC (21-5) will host Otero Junior College (14-17) in a four-game Region IX series Friday and Saturday at the Jaycees Sports Complex.
Friday’s doubleheader starts at 1 p.m. and Saturday’s at 11 a.m.
MCC is 3-3 in Region IX play, fourth place among the seven teams while the Lady Rattlers are 9-3, third place in the region.
