Area boys playoffs begin tonight, hit full speed Tuesday

OGALLALA, Neb. — Chase County's surging Longhorns start boys subdistrict basketball tonight for area teams when the No. 4 Longhorns (14-9) meet No. 5 Broken Bow at Prairie View school in Ogallala.

The Chase boys enter a loaded C1-11 subdistrict featuring No. 1 Ogallala (20-3), No. 2 Cozad (20-4) and No. 3 Gothenburg (16-6).

Meanwhile, the D1-9 subdistrict in Loomis tips tonight with No. 5 Arapahoe (12-12) meeting No. 4 Bertrand (10-9) at 6 p.m.

The winner advances into Tuesday's 6 p.m. semifinal with No. 1 Loomis (12-10).

No. 2 Southern Valley (10-13) and No. 3 Overton (11-11) follow at approximately 7 :45 p.m.

The D1-9 final will be 7 p.m. on Thursday at Loomis High.

No. 1 Dundy County-Stratton (19-5) has earned D1-10 host status for the four-team showdown in Benkelman.

The Tigers take on No. 4 Wauneta-Palisade (1-18) at 6:30 p.m. or 5:30 p.m. MST.

No. 2 Cambridge (14-9) then meets No. 3 Hitchcock County (11-11) with tip time at approximately 8 p.m. or 7 MST.

The D1-10 final is set for Thursday with action beginning at 7 p.m., 6 p.m. Benkelman time.

RPAC tourney champ Maywood Hayes-Center (19-3) also will home advantage in the D2-8 at Hayes Center this week.

The Wolves will face No. 4 Wallace (7-15) at 5 p.m. on Tuesday followed by No. 2 Medicine Valley (9-12) vs. No. 3 Southwest (6-14) set for 6:30 p.m.

A D2-8 champ will be decided on Thursday starting at 6:30 p.m. in Hayes Center.
