Longhorns qualify five for Omaha with four winning 40 or more

BROKEN BOW, Neb. — Unbeaten senior Jaret Peterson (44-0) will lead five Chase County wrestlers into the Class C state wrestling meet at Omaha this week.

Peterson won the C-4 district title at 215 pounds when he beat finals foe Cal Wells from Broken Bow (43-3), 3-1.

Teammate Zach Tarin reached 40 wins (40-3) while taking second at 285. He faced three wrsetlers who were a dcombined 88-20 and still won two.

Junior Luis Co (45-5) took third at 144 and senior Thomas Reeves (42-7) achieved that same place at 175 at the C-4.

Westyn Mendenhall (29-13) completes the state contingent, placing fourth at 157 pounds.
