Tigers shake off 'Riders, other girls Tuesday scores

BARTLEY, Neb. — Dundy County-Stratton's girls surprised host Southwest, 40-39, Tuesday night and evened their record at 10-10 in this first full night of basketball action following the RPAC tournament.

The Tigers broke from a 19-19 halftime tie to lead by four through three periods, then held off one final Southwest comeback try.

DC-S has now seven of its last nine games while also overcoming a six-game losing streak in December. The next Tiger game isn't until Tuesday when North Platte St. Pat's visits Benkelman.

Bertrand freshman Liviya Phillips (23) tries to district Cambridge senior Jalen Kent (5) from a lay-up but the Trojans stayed foused on their 37-28 home win Tuesday evening. The Cambridge girls are now 11-7 this season.

Southwest slipped to 12-7 on the season. The Roughriders also don't play again until Tuesday at Wallace.
