McCOOK, Neb. — Nearly 40 youth basketball teams are expected to play in the McCook Optimist Club’s 33rd annual Mac Attack tournament on Saturday.
Organizer Joe Townsley told KICX Radio some new teams among a field that featured “37 or 38” as of Thursday.
The fourth, fifth and sixth-grade team numbers are strong whether boys or girls.
They’ll compete in round-robin action mainly at McCook Community College’s Graff Events Center but other sites as well.
Townley said the numbers make for a good Mac Attack, though he’s like to see 60 teams spend much of the weekend in McCook. Seventh and eighth-grade team numbers are “down a bit” this year.
