Teen found dead in Kansas
RUSH COUNTY, Kan. — The Kansas Bureau of Investigation and the Rush County Sheriff’s Office have launched a death investigation following the discovery of the lifeless body of 18-year-old Zachary Thiel near La Crosse, Kan.
The incident unfolded on Wednesday, Jan. 17, at approximately 10:15 a.m., when the Rush County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a concerned citizen who reported spotting a body in the south ditch on Avenue N, located about a half mile east of U.S. Highway 183. Deputies promptly responded to the scene and identified the deceased male as Zachary Thiel of La Crosse.
Responding to the call for assistance, the Rush County Sheriff’s Office reached out to the KBI, prompting the involvement of KBI agents and the Crime Scene Response Team. The authorities discovered a vehicle, believed to have been driven by Thiel, stuck in the snow approximately half a mile east of his location.
As of now, there is no apparent evidence of foul play, but a comprehensive investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding Thiel's death. An autopsy has been scheduled to provide further insights into the cause of death.
