Eagles topple Roughriders, 52-40, to complete sweep
BARTLEY, Neb. — Southern Valley’s boys evened their record at 4-4 going into holidays with a 52-40 pounding of Southwest Tuesday evening.
The Eagles crashed glass for a 36-23 rebounding edge with senior Kody Collins securing nine and junior Tylor Grove eight boards.
Senior Kamden Bose’s 13 points led three double-figure scorers as junior Trenton Shockman electrified the effort thanks to 10 more points. Sophomore Tate Weatherwax also tallied 10.
Senior Rian Grove’s five points, four from Tyloer Grove and one Collins free throw completed the Eagle scoring.
Senior Nathan Rippe netted 11 points to lead Southwest (2-6 record) and classmate Hunter Blume hammered 10 through those home nets.
Rippe ripped both his three-point attempts for 100 percent.
Sophomore Houston Billeter hit a trio of three-pointers for his nine points.
Senior Jackub Walz scored six points and Trenton Williams finished with four.
Walz (seven), Blume (six) and Rippe (five) were Southwest’s leading rebounders.
Blume swiped six steals to keep the Roughriders within striking distance.
They play at Franklin tonight.
