Suspect arrested after drive-by shooting, standoff in Oshkosh
SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. — The Nebraska State Patrol successfully apprehended a suspect, identified as 54-year-old Henry Schuff, following a drive-by shooting and subsequent standoff in Oshkosh.
The incident unfolded at approximately 11 p.m. MT on Wednesday when the Garden County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a drive-by shooting in the 400 block of East Avenue H in Oshkosh. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in connection with the shooting. Law enforcement swiftly located the vehicle involved in the incident at a residence in the 400 block of West 5th Street.
Upon identifying Schuff as the suspect and discovering that he was prohibited from possessing a firearm, Garden County deputies sought assistance from the Nebraska State Patrol. NSP investigators initiated contact with Schuff at the residence. However, the suspect refused to exit the home, prompting the activation of the NSP SWAT team.
After numerous attempts to coax the suspect out of the residence, Schuff voluntarily surrendered at approximately 4:50 a.m. The Nebraska State Patrol SWAT team executed a search warrant, uncovering numerous firearms within the premises.
Henry Schuff has been lodged in the Scotts Bluff County Jail on charges of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person. Additional charges are pending as the investigation into the drive-by shooting continues.
The Nebraska State Patrol remains actively involved in the ongoing investigation. Authorities urge anyone with information related to the incident to come forward.
