INDIANOLA Neb. - Charles Joseph McConville, age 95, of Indianola Neb. passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2023, in Cambridge Neb.
Charles was born July 6, 1928, in rural Frontier County to Joseph Leo and Mary Catherine (Sweetman) McConville. Charles was one of eight children. He attended Havana High through his freshman year and later graduated from the School of Agriculture in Curtis Neb. in 1946.
On May 29, 1947, Charles married Cecelia (Teel) McConville at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Indianola Neb. The couple were married for nearly 61 years. The family made their home in Frontier County. Charles found joy in carrying on the family farm, fueled by a love of the land passed down through the generations. To this union, 10 children were born: Rita, Charles Duane, Donald, Diane, Kenneth, Kevin, Cheryl, Mary, Lawrence, and Annette.
Charles was an active member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He loved his family, church, and community. Charles was an Acolyte for St. Catherine’s for many years and served as a school board member for Republican Valley Schools. Charles was an inspiration to those around him and impacted many lives.
On June 6, 2009, Charles married Jane (Blume) McConville at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Indianola Neb. The couple were married for nearly 15 years. To this union, Charles welcomed to the family Jane’s four children: Ron, Steve, Lorie, and Tim.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; wife Cecelia; infant daughter Mary; siblings, Leo, Harold, John Eldon, Richard Dale, Ruth, Rita, and Kate; and several extended family members.
Those left to celebrate his life include his wife Jane Blume-McConville; his children; Amrita Burdick of Kansas City Mo., Duane (Leah) McConville of Des Moines Iowa, Don (Pam) McConville of Indianola Neb., Diane McConville Bieker of Marshfield Mo., Kenny McConville of North Platte Neb., Kevin (Kathy) McConville of San Diego Calif., Cheryl Linegar of Hemingford Neb., Larry McConville of Austin Texas, Annette (Jim) Gruhn of Indianola Neb., Ron (Doris) Blume of Indianola Neb., Steve (Doug Hearn) Blume of Warren Pa., Lorie (Bill) Crocker of McCook Neb., Tim (Norma) Blume of Indianola Neb.; brother-in-law George Metz of San Diego, Calif.; sister-in-law Janelle McConville of Minden, Neb.; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and many extended family members, and friends.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 30, 2023, at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, Indianola with recitation of the Rosary following the visitation.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 1, 2023 at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, Indianola with Father Michael Houlihan as Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Indianola.
