Noel on Norris to light up McCook for third year running

McCOOK, Neb. - The holiday season is set to kick off with festive flair as the McCook Chamber of Commerce presents “Noel on Norris” for the third consecutive year. Mark your calendars for Dec. 2, starting at 3 pm., as Norris Park transforms into a winter wonderland of entertainment, activities, and, of course, the magic of Christmas.

The festivities begin early in the day with Santa making a grand entrance at McCook Ben Nelson Regional Airport at 12:30 p.m. Families are invited to capture the moment with Santa Fly-In pictures at 1 p.m.. The holiday spirit then shifts to Norris Park at 3 p.m., where the main event unfolds.

Attendees can partake in the enchanting experience of carriage rides throughout Norris Park. Family carriage rides are are still available, and there are still plenty of openings for anyone who would like to book a private carriage ride.

The carriage rides, a staple of the event, provide a unique way to soak in the festive atmosphere and admire the beautifully decorated park.

Santa Claus himself will be stationed in the Keystone Lobby from 3 to 6 p.m., ready to listen to the wishes of children and pose for memorable photos. The Keystone Lobby will also host various entertainment acts from local community groups during this time, creating a lively and spirited ambiance. Free refreshments and a kids’ craft corner will add to the joyous atmosphere.

At 6 p.m., the city will come alive with the High Plains Radio Christmas Light Parade. Live announcers from the balcony of the Keystone Business Center will guide spectators through the dazzling parade, creating an immersive experience for all. For those unable to attend in person, the parade and live announcers will be broadcast on the KICX YouTube Channel.

The evening will continue with more carriage rides at 6:30 p.m., providing an opportunity for attendees to continue enjoying the holiday charm. The final rides will wrap up at 7:30 p.m., concluding the festive celebration.
