Down eight runs, McCook girls soar past the Stars 17-16

McCOOK, Neb. — McCook faced 13-5 and 16-8 deficit and three outs from Kearney Catholic finishing the mercy-rule softball victory Tuesday night.

Yet junior Dani Johnson's "hustle double" showed the Bison were far from finished as McCook plated nine unanswered runs for a 17-16 amazing comeback win at McCook's Jaycees Complex.

Junior Brooklyn Gillen blasted one bases-clearing triple to bring the Bison within 16-14, and classmate Briley Morgan soon singled home another key run.

The Bison are now 6-3 this season and host Lexington Thursday evening.
