McCook Legion teams finish 1-2 in post-season tourneys
BROKEN BOW, Neb. —Host Broken Bow needed nine innings but did win 6-5 and knock the McCook First Central Bank Juniors from state tourney contention in Sunday's Class B area elimination game.
McCook FCB finished a 10-11 season which featured an 11-5 playoff win over Ogallala on Saturday.
The Juniors dropped their opening game, 8-0, to No. 2-seed Minden Friday afternoon at this double-elimination tourney concluding Tuesday evening.
Minden and No. 6-seed Ogallala play today with undefeated No. 1 Holdrage awaiting the winner. Whoever prevails must defeat Holdrege twice to make state.

Minden 8, McCook 0
The Juniors were shut out with six hits as Trey Teller doubled and singled. Conor Rakes delivered two base hits while Asher Wilson and Simon Garcia added one each.
Tripp Raile pitched four innings, allowing three runs and four hits.
McCook 11, Ogallala 5
Kooper Rakes and Noah Mashek both drilled doubles along with a single en route to scoring two runs apiece during this Saturday "survival" showdown.
Tripp Raile singled three times to lead the 11-hit attack overall.
Espn Hall and Grady Miller both drove home another McCook runs. Hall also rounded the bases twic.
A six-run third inning turned Ogallala's 4-3 lead into the 9-4 FCB advantage.
Espn Hall's line-drive single to right broke the 4-4 deadlock as both Raile and Rakes motored home.
Grady Miller's two-out single plated both Mashek and Wilson to give McCook its' six-run margin.
Rakes later ripped an RBI-double with Tiller making the margin 10-4 for FCB.
Besides his hitting heroics, Rakes hurled six innings and earned the pitching victory. He struck out six while working around eight Ogallala hits and four walks.
Broken Bow 6, McCook 5
The FCB Juniors took a 3-0 lead through just one inning on RBI-hits from Garcia and Raile.
Bow answered with three runs only to see FCB make it 5-3 on a two-out, two-run rally.
Lee Davidson drew a leadoff walk before Hall also walked and Junker singled to load the bases. On the next pitch, Tiller singled which scored both Davidson and courtesy runner Jaret Neben.
However, Bow had the right response to catch McCook again then win it in that ninth inning.
Trey Junker's three hits topped the attack where eight other FCB players delivered one hit spice.
Raile and Tiller each finished with two RBIs.

Pinnacle at State Tournament
OMAHA, Neb. — McCook Pinnacle Bank's 9-7 win over the Nebraska Braves Navy team on Saturday highlighted state tournament play for this Legion B 14-and-under squad.
Pinnacle Bank used a seven-run second to overcome the Braves' 4-1 lead through one inning.
Trey Junker doubled, singled twice and drove home two runs while Kale Sattler connected for two hits with two RBIs.
Brody Anthony also drilled a double which helped score two teammates. Cruz McCarty also rounded the state bases twice and Jacob Barber hit yet another double that powered P.B.
iden Lauer pitched three innings and earned a state tournament win.
Lincoln Brewers 8, Pinnacle Bank 3
Bo Schlegel doubled twice for two of the five McCook hits but the Brewers countered with two doubles and a three-run homer.
Davidson also doubled with Jaime Samaniego and Anthony each swatting a single. Pinnacle Bank couldn't overcome eight unanswered Brewers runs from the third through fifth innings.
Omaha Krush 15, Pinnacle Bank 0
The McCook boys produced one hit on a Davidson double. They still finished a strong 18-12 season.
