Daniel “Dan” E. Haines

CULBERTSON, Neb. - Daniel “Dan” E. Haines of Culbertson, Neb. passed away at McCook Community Hospital on July 5, 2023, at the age of 71.

Dan was born in Benkelman, Neb. on April 22, 1952, to parents Hubert and Helen (Ellis) Haines. He grew up in Benkelman where he graduated high school with the Class of 1971. Throughout his life, Dan was a truck driver and drove thousands of miles, ensuring freight was delivered on time for many families and companies.

In 1972, Dan served his country by joining the Navy and was medically discharged in 1973. Dan’s service to this great country was appreciated by all.

Dan was united in marriage to Linda Housley on Nov. 24, 1984, in McCook, Neb. Together, they raised their sons - Danny and Kyler.

Dan was an avid golfer. He enjoyed many area courses alongside family and friends. Of all the courses, Trenton was one of his favorites.

He is proceeded in death by his parents and three infants, Jeffrey, Kerri, and Kody.

Those left to celebrate Dan’s life are his wife, Linda Haines; sons, Danny (Misty) Haines of Big Cabin, Okla., and Kyler (Amy) Haines of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; sister, Linda (Ron) Sorensen of Bellevue, Neb.; brother, Kenneth (Francie) Haines of Benkelman, Neb.; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Private family graveside services with military honors will be held on Fri., July 14, 2023, at Ft. McPherson at Maxwell, Neb.

A public celebration of life will be published at a later date.
