Bison golfers dominate first trip; Falcons top three at invite
GOTHENBURG, Neb. — McCook High’s golf season debut was well worth the wait as they earned first place at Gothenburg on Thursday.
Sophomore Reid Loop fired 36 in this nine-hole event while his three teammates all carded top four scores.
Cole Graham totaled 40, Landon Kmoch 43 and Ryland Peters 45 which helped McCook finished more than 30 strokes better than the top challenger.
The Bison finished at 164 while Lexington shot 195. Host Gothenburg was third on the Wildhorse Golf Course at 202.
Senior Eli Kehler was another Bison competitor who totaled 51.
Cambridge Invite
CAMBRIDGE, Neb. — Hitchcock County’s 373 placed third overall and led four area teams competing at the Cambridge Invitational on Thurdsay.
Te Falcons finished behind champion Overton (339)and just one stroke from runner-up Loomis (372).
Grayden Melchert led the Falcons with his 91 for 13th place individually.
Dundy County-Stratton’s Dante Horner was seventh at 88 to lead all area golfers. Braden Fleischman shot 81 for first to lead the champion Overton Eagles.
DC-S placed seventh among 10 teams at 435 followed by Medicine Valley (473), Franklin (487) ad Maywood-Hayes Center (531).
Returning RPAC champion Southern Valley didn’t enter an entire team lineup. Braxton Hammond placed eighth and Matthew Henderson ninth as both fired rounds of 88.
Haiden Van Houten’s 99 led the two Arapahoe Warriors who entered into this tournament.
