Commissioners approve truck purchase, IT contract
McCOOK, Neb. — After confirming details, Red Willow County Commissioners approved the purchase of a used semi-tractor to pull a new trailer they ordered earlier to haul gravel county roads.
There were questions about the VIN and dealer address that were cleared up by a phone call, and the board agreed to purchase a 2018 Western Star semi tractor with 364,000 miles for $82,750 from RVA Trucks of Virginia, with another company to deliver it for $3,200. Chairman Ted Gans said the truck had been used to haul material between two warehouses in Florida, so was in good condition.
After speaking with Brett Warren and Tyler Kotschwar of 20/20 Technologies, commissioners approved an information technologies service contract with 20/20 for the Red Willow County Law Enforcement Center. The contract presented will be for $2,200 a month, but that amount will be reduced after it is adjusted lower because of a smaller staff than it was drawn up to cover. The motion included a 30-day notice to the previous vendor, Honor Bound IT, which provided IT services for $3,281.11 per month.
Commissioners also spent time discussing insurance options with Mike Boden of the Nebraska Association of County Officials which offers health insurance plans. Red Willow County, which is partially self-insured for health insurance, is soliciting bids for options to be opened on April 10.
Michael Sides submitted a letter of resignation from the County Planning and Zoning Board, of which he was an original member when it was formed in 1999. Commissioner Randy Dean said he would offer potential candidates to replace Sides at the next commissioner meeting.
