School board to consider roof bid, teacher evaluations
McCOOK, Neb. — The McCook Board of Education will be asked to approve a bid for a roof at Central Elementary and a revised assessment used by administrators to evaluate teachers, at the regular meeting Monday, 6:30 p.m. at the junior high conference room.
The $161,000 bid for the roof at Central Elementary is from Tillotson Enterprises of Kearney, Neb. It comes with a 15-year warranty and a 20-year life expectancy for the roof.
The teacher’s evaluation tool the board will be asked to approve has been amended to include a minor change from the current evaluation. This change is: “Establishes a positive classroom environment which includes routines and procedures that are conducive to student learning and growth.”
The board will also be asked from the regular agenda to review proposed costs from KSO CPAs and Advisors of Kearney, for the annual audit of the school district. The current contract with the company has expired and for a new, two-year contract, the fees proposed are $32,600 for 2023 and $33,100 for 2024. The CPA firm cites the increased rates are due to additional procedures needed to review federal COVID funds and increased costs for staffing.
Before the regular agenda, the board will hear the annual report from the superintendent and review a draft of the 2023-24 school calendar. The board will vote on next year’s school calendar at its March meeting.
