Two commissioners complete terms

McCOOK, Neb. — County Clerk Tami Teel and Commissioners Cayla Richards and Earl McNutt completed their tenures at county commissioners with a short meeting Monday, followed by a reception hosted by fellow county employees.

Charles Frische, who attended Monday’s meeting, will be sworn in as District 3 county commissioner on Jan. 5, as will Ted Gans for District 1, Penny Cooper as new county clerk and Kevin Darling as county sheriff, as well as other county officials.

Cooper met with commissioners to discuss details of federal ARPA funds and acting as a board of equalization, meet with County Treasurer Crystal Dack to approve a tax roll correction and three motor vehicle tax exemptions for Community Hospital.

Commissioners approved $354,565.61 in accounts payable, including $59,412.95 which will be covered by grants for the Household Hazardous Waste program.

The board reappointed Don Klein to the Red Willow County Fairboard with a term expiring Dec. 31, 2025, and appointed Joe Uerling to replace Bob Logan and Tanner Powell to replace Shawn Smith, terms expiring Dec. 31, 2025, and Brian Reynolds to replace Mason Weisert with terms to expire Dec. 31, 2024. Smith and Weisert were replaced because they moved from the county.
