INDIANOLA, Neb. —Phillip Patrick Brown, Sr., was born on March 12, 1942, in Long Pine, Nebr., to Gerald Joseph and Margaret Evelyn (Glendenning) Brown. He was raised by his grandparents on the family farm and moved to McCook as a young man where he attended school. Phillip served in the United States Air Force and after receiving an honorable discharge he returned to Southwest Nebraska, where he worked in manufacturing. He was a talented welder and owned his own cleaning business.
Phillip was united in marriage to Anna L. Sprenkle on June 15, 1962 and to this union three sons and one daughter were born: Phillip, Jr., Gerald, Francis, and Paula. The family attended Indianola Christian Church and the First Assembly of God Church in McCook. Phillip enjoyed reading, word searches, and cooking.
Phillip passed away at the Imperial Manor Nursing Home in Imperial, Neb., early Tuesday morning, Sept. 27, 2022. He was 80 years of age.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Phillip Jr.; sister, Norma Sedam; and a brother-in-law, Pete Meints.
Survivors include his wife, Anna of Indianola; sons, Gerald Brown and Francis Brown of Lincoln, Neb.; daughter, Paula Pearson of Oberlin, Kan.; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister, Geraldine Brown-Meints; brother, Gilbert (Joan) Brown; and many nieces and nephews.
No visitation. Graveside services with military honors will be at 2 p.m., Friday afternoon, Sept. 30, 2022, at the Bartley Cemetery with Pastor Clark Bates officiating.
