Wolves reach 14-0; Raiders and 'Riders win again

MAYWOOD, Neb. — The Maywood-Hayes Center swept South Platte and Hi-Line in Monday’s home triangular to remain unbeaten at 14-0 this season.

“Lately we’ve been struggling with our side out game, letting our opponents get a few point run,” coach Shayne Lawson commented. “I felt like the girls did a great job of limiting our opponents to one or two points at a time and when we got the side out, we were able to string a few points together to finish out strong each game.”

In other area volleyball this week, the Southwest Roughriders reached 11-3 with a 25-16, 26-24, 25-15 triumph over Arapahoe.

The Warriors are still a respectable 7-7 this season.

Southern Valley climbed to 10-9 this season thanks to a 25-23, 15-25, 25-18 downing of the Wilcox-Hildreth Falcons Thursday night.

The Medicine Valley Raiders recovered from a Tuesday loss to Alma ans swept Creek Valley 25-20, 25-20, 25-11 Thursday evening.

No individual stats have been posted from these matches for area teams.

The Chase County Longhorns ran into unbeaten Sidney. They pushed those Raiders but fell 28-26 in final set after 25-19, 25-20.

The Rawlins County Buffaloes from Atwood, Kan., reached 9-8 as they won a spirited 25-23, 21-25, 25-22 match over Hitchcock County Tuesday evening.

Hitchcock stayed close thanks junior Madison Gestenslager’s eight kills and another six from classmate Byanka Tyan.

Tyan served three of seven Falcon faces. Freshman Karstyn Porter played great floor protecter with 23 digs.

The Wauneta-Palisade Broncos slipped to 4-0 with a three-set loss against Paxton in Tuesday’s Paxton tourney.
