Area GOP plans events in McCook, North Platte
Southwest Nebraska Republicans are planning events leading up to the fall election.
The Red Willow and Frontier County GOP plan an event Tuesday, Sept. 27, at the Bedore Barn, three miles north of McCook with a meet and greet at 6:30 p.m. followed by a business meeting at 7 p.m.
Special guests and speakers include Elizabeth Tegtmeier, candidate for the state board of education and Bill Hoyt, candidate for the NPPD board.
Kathy Wilmot, the candidate for the University Board of Regents, has requested help in reaching Red Willow County voters.
All area Republicans are encouraged to attend local monthly meetings on the fourth Tuesday of each month at the Bedore Barn.
Those counties will also join Hitchcock County Republicans for a Big Red Roundup at North Platte on Sunday, Oct. 2, 4-7 p.m. at the Best Western Plus, 3201 S. Jeffers.
Area residents are invited to attend this event to meet candidates from state and district races and hear from Congressman Adrian Smith, Jim Pillen nominee for governor, Bob Evnen nominee for secretary of state, Mike Hilgers nominee for attorney general, and John Murante, nominee for state treasurer.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to visit directly with district candidates. Legislative candidates include Senator Dave Murman (LD 38), Senator Mike Jacobson and Chris Bruns (LD 42), and Teresa Ibach (LD44). Republican nominee for Public Service Commission, Kevin Stocker, will be attending. Kathy Wilmot, candidate for University Regent, and Elizabeth Tegtmeier, candidate for Nebraska State Board of Education, will be in attendance. NPPD District Director Bill Hoyt and candidate David Gale will also be available. This event is hosted by the Republican party from the following counties: Arthur, Chase, Cherry, Custer, Dawson, Dundy, Furnas, Grant, Hayes, Hitchcock, Hooker, Keith, Lincoln, Logan, McPherson, Perkins, Red Willow, and Thomas.
Organizers of the event said the intent is to directly connect candidates with voters before the early voting begins on October 11. The sponsoring counties will be able to showcase their county and help inform the public of the important role the county GOP parties play. To add to the fun, each candidate was asked to bring a door prize to be given away during the event.
Red Willow County Republicans will be hosting a table at the event.
Jim Pillen also plans a meet and greet at Sehnert’s Bakery, 9:30-11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 3.
