McCook 'Y' flag football sign-up deadline is Friday

McCOOK, Neb. — The Ed Thomas YMCA of McCook leaders remind all interested parties that the registration deadline for the DHW Energy Youth Volleyball and Midwest Liberty FCU Flag Football leagues is Friday, August 12. No registrations will be taken after August 12th.

Please register early to ensure placement. Please note that late entries will not be accepted for the following reasons: 1) Delays in team formation 2) Unbalanced team rosters 3) Team shirt order deadlines 4) Administrative deadlines.

Divisions will be formed for children Kindergarten through Sixth Grade. Registration fees are $30 for YMCA members, and $50 for non-members. Fall league practices will begin the week of August 22nd. Practices will be conducted at least once weekly during the season and are scheduled by coaches. All games will be played on Saturdays beginning September 10th. Teams will play approximately six games over a seven-week period. No games will be played October 8 (Heritage Days). Flag Football games will be played at the McCook Jr./Sr. High practice fields. Volleyball games will be played at the YMCA.

“We are very excited about the prospects of another successful youth sports season,” said CEO, Mitch Gross. “Our intent is to provide area youth with an enjoyable experience while learning the fundamentals of the game. We believe that participation in youth sports is critical to the development of young individuals.”
