Pinnacle of success: McCook team wins Slamfest title

The McCook Pinnacle Bank Legion B baseball team won a pair of one-run thrillers besides an 11-run rout to take first place at last weekend’s Midwest Slamfest in Hays, Kan.

Fresh off a 23-2 win at Broken Bow just before the tourney, coach Konor Rakes saw his boys hammer Hays, Kan., by a 15-4 final. Pinnacle Bank then edged Beloit, Kan., 8-7, and scored another 8-7 victory over Spyac to win the 13-and-under age division.

Pinnacle Bank split two earlier games, winning 6-3 over K.C. Nationals and losing 6-4 to Beloit.
