Indian power hitter earns All-American honors

McCOOK, Neb. — McCook Community College’s Zach Beatty, a 2022 graduate, has been selected by the National Junior College Athletic Association Division I Baseball Committee as an honorable mention all-American.
Beatty, (Maple Park, Ill.) was selected at the designated hitter slot although he played first base for MCC.
He finished the 2022 regular season with 24 home runs, which was second in the nation by just one home run behind the national leader.
He batted .346 with 80 RBIs in 56 games with an on-base mark of .468 and a .793 slugging average.
He tied for six place in the nation with his 80 RBIs while leading Region IX in home runs and was second in RBIs.
Beatty set the single-season home record for MCC this spring and holds the career mark with 42.
For his career, he batted .350 at MCC in 112 games with 143 RBIs, a .456 on-base percentage and a .755 slugging rate.
He was selected as DH on the Region IX first team after being selected to the second team last year as a freshman.
This summer, Beatty is playing in a collegiate league on the West Coast.
He is playing for the Kamloops NorthPaws based out of British Colombia, Canada.
This fall, he plans to attend Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina, and play baseball while pursuing a degree in sports management.
The Kamloops are leading the West Coast League eight-team North Division with an 8-5 record and Beatty is tied for the league-lead in homeruns hitting four in his first 10 games to go along with 10 RBIs.
