Guidance offered on recovery from drought, wildfires
HOLDREGE, Neb. — Free Nebraska Extension “Managing Grass, Cattle and Crops” Question and Answer educational sessions will be provided on Thursday, June 2, according to extension officials.
The first session will begin at 1:30 p.m. in the Commons Area at the Arapahoe High School (610 Walnut St., Arapahoe, Neb.) Then, the second session will begin at 4 p.m. on the Harlan County Fair Grounds (4-H / Community Building, Orleans, Neb.).
Potential discussion topics will include:
— range and pasture management following drought and wildfires
— cover crops selection; bull & cow health monitoring; cropping rotation systems; fencing alternatives;
— culling herd management and financial decisions relating to crops and livestock.
Featured Nebraska Extension personnel on-hand will be: Jerry Volesky – Extension Range and Forages Specialist; Randy Saner – Extension Beef Systems Educator; Brent Plugge – Extension Beef Systems Educator; and Todd Whitney – Extension Cropping Systems Educator.
