Culbertson teacher is McCook Area Educator of the Year
CULBERTSON, Neb. — The McCook Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that the 2022 McCook Area Educator of the Year Award, made possible by the Strunk Family, is Deb McCarter of Hitchcock County.
Deb has been an educator since 1978, earning a bachelor’s degree at Wayne State College and master’s degrees at Kearney State College and Chadron State College along the way. In 2007 Trenton and Culbertson Public Schools consolidated to form Hitchcock County Schools.
The Board of Education asked if Deb would consider a change in a teaching position to become the district’s school counselor.
She agreed and in 2009 she began a new career path serving the students as School Counselor in Trenton and Culbertson. “A decision I have never regretted.” Deb’s commitment to students “who just need to know someone cares”, rural life in Nebraska, and service to others make Deb a role model for young educators and a gem treasured by the generations of students in our region.
The McCook Chamber of Commerce and the Strunk Family congratulate Deb McCarter, the 2022 McCook Educator of the Year.
