School board asked to approve hirings, resignations, gift
McCOOK, Neb. — The McCook Board of Education will be asked to accept a teacher's resignation and the hiring of two teachers, at the regular meeting Monday, at 6:30 p.m. in the junior high conference room.
It will also be asked to approve a $1,000 donation for children's winter clothing and up to $190,000 in new math materials.
The resignation the board will be asked to accept is from Audrey Feeney, who taught at McCook Public Schools for eight years.
Two teaching contracts up for approval are for Krisha Scott for fourth grade and another for Easton Gillen for fifth-grade math. Gillen is a McCook High School graduate.
The donation comes from Nancy Miller, who specified that it be used for winter clothing/families in need.
The $190,000 in new math materials the board will be asked to approve are for the elementary grades. Joel Bednar, Curriculum Director, will give a presentation earlier in the meeting about this purchase.
Other items the board will be asked to approve are district surplus items for sale and a contract with OPAA! Food Management as the food service management company for McCook Public Schools.
Before voting on regular agenda items, the board will hear from staff members and committee members on the school improvement action plan.
Superintendent Grant Norgaard will present information to the board on several topics, including the active shooter drill on Thursday; an update on the extended day program; teacher evaluations; math materials adoption; and the intercom systems in the school district.
