Chase County girls are 60-point winners at Ogallala Invite

OGALLALA, Neb. — Defending Class C state champ Chase County girls roared through the Ed Moore Invitational to another team title on Saturday.

The Longhorns topped their nearest contender Sidney, 132-72, while also outscoring six other teams competing.

Senior Jerzee Milner swept the hurdling titles with times of 16.58 in 100 meters and 48.84 to win that 300-meter event.

Junior Bryn McNair finished 400 meters in 58.26 seconds to go with an 800-meter race victory (2:23.36). Both times were season but not career bests.

McNair later finished a 1600-meter relay championship were freshman Payton Owens, senior Jordan Jablonski and junior Ali McNair ran the other three legs to a time of 4:16.78. Chase County won the Class C 400-meter relay championship at Omaha Burke Stadium last spring.

Senior Lucy Spady ignited a 3200-relay victory with freshmen Olivia Spady, Landree McNair and Jablonski finishing in 10:24.3. They won a great close race over Chadron's 10:25.5.

Jabonski reached a career best to win the pole vault at 9'9".

McNair cleared her all-time best of 5'5" while winning another high jump title. She was a top three Class C placer at last year's state meet.

The Longhorns will move on to Saturday's Don Stine Invitational in Cambridge.

BOYS

Chase County's boys totaled 35 points to place sixth among the eight schools on Saturday in Ogallala.

Sophomores Jaret Peterson (third/discus), Easton Fries (fourth/110-hurdles), freshmen Trevin Moreno (fifth/3200-meter run, seventh/1600) and Luis Co (seventh/400 meters) were the highest placing Longhorns who hit personal bests.
