FORT WORTH, Texas — Clarence LeRoy Hidy passed away on March 21, 2022, at the age of 75 in Fort Worth. Clarence died peacefully with his beloved wife of 55 years, Susan, and their three children by his side.

Clarence was born in Stratton, Neb., on Dec. 30, 1946, to Lewis and Elizabeth Hidy. He grew up working side by side with his dad on the family farm in Trenton, Neb. After a hard day’s work, he loved coming home to a good home cooked meal prepared by his mom.

Clarence was a lifelong railroader, starting his career as an agent-operator in Wiggins, Colo., in 1967. He retired after 40 years of service from BNSF Railroad. He spent his retirement years tinkering with computers, building websites, documenting his family history, and enjoying time with his many friends and family members. He had a lifelong love of camping and spent many wonderful days camping at Benbrook Lake at his favorite spot site 88. As a lifelong Huskers fan, nothing made him happier than chatting with a fellow Nebraskan after he relocated to Texas.

Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Elizabeth (Heinbigner) Hidy; his baby brother, Jerry Hidy and his half-brother, Don Heinbigner.

He is survived by his wife, Susan; his children, Lisa Hidy, Shelly and Dan Dietderich and Matt and Mari Hidy; grandchildren, Jakob Scantlin, Ryan Dietderich, Katelynne Dietderich, and Wyatt Hidy; his sister, Joyce and Jim Wann; nephews, Gary and Sherry Wann, Dan and Michelle Wann and Brian and Stephanie Wann; and many beloved cousins.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. on March 25th at the Saginaw United Methodist Church in Saginaw, Texas.

Memorials may be given to Community Link Mission, Saginaw United Methodist Church (children’s wing remodeling fund), or Presbyterian Night Shelter.

Clarence’s family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Kanu of Fort Worth Renal, Dr. Simpson of Fort Worth Heart and the many nurses at Harris Methodist Hospital Heart Hospital in Fort Worth for their loving care during his illness.
